Seth Williams Investigated; Earth Temperature Rising; Papal Rail Passes on Sale

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams is under investigation by a federal grand jury that has subpoenaed his political campaign's financial records to determine if he misspent funds on personal expenses, according to Subpoenas were served as recently as two weeks ago to Friends of Seth Williams, his political action committee, who described the investigation as a joint effort of the FBI and IRS, with a grand jury impaneled at least two months ago.

Earth is getting hotter. July was the planet's warmest month on record, smashing old marks according to U.S. weather officials. And it's almost certain that this year will beat last year as the warmest year on record. In Philadelphia, the mean temperature for Philadelphia in July was 79.2, compared with the normal 78.1. Philadelphia had 10 days of high temperatures of 90 degrees or hotter.

More than 100,000 Regional Rail papal passes are still available and are on sale today. The passes for Regional Rail trips on Sept. 26 and 27 are for sale at select stations. Those stations include Suburban and Jefferson stations in Center City and the 18 stations that will be open during next month's papal visit. SEPTA will be running limited, express-style service.
