Philadelphia will be opening a call center for businesses trying to figure out how to stay open when the Pope comes to town. Many in Center City say there are so many driving restrictions they're not sure how their employees will get to work. In the case of restaurants they aren't sure how to get fresh food in. City officials are urging businesses to be creative but if they can't find answer, then they should call. The call center will be staffed Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can call (215)-683-2100 or email: business@phila.gov.

Philadelphia Congressman Chaka Fattah will be in court for the first time today as he faces racketeering charges. Prosecutors allege Fattah participated in actions including bribery, bank fraud, and money laundering. In all, he faces 29 counts. The 11-term congressman will be before a judge nearly three weeks after prosecutors announced the indictment. Fattah maintains he did nothing wrong. He went on the offensive yesterday, questioning prosecutors’ motives and tactics in a five page letter to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

The principal of Bishop Shanahan High School, Sister Maureen Lawrence McDermott, has been named superintendent of secondary schools for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Her appointment will take effect Oct. 1st. Sister Maureen, who led the Downingtown school for 14 years, will be the permanent successor of Carol Cary, who left in June to become superintendent of the Marple Newtown School District. Sister Maureen, a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, has taught in several Catholic elementary and archdiocesan high schools and private Catholic academies in the area.
