Police Shootings in Philadelphia Decline; Levittown Break-Ins;Storm Recovery

According to data released by Philadelphia's Police Department, Police officers are shooting less often, firing fewer bullets when they discharge their weapons and striking fewer civilians compared to 2012. Shootings by police have plunged since a spike three years ago, when officers killed 16 people and wounded 32. Between Jan. 1 and mid-June of this year, police fatally shot one person and injured seven others.

Residents in Levittown are being more diligent about locking windows and doors. Some are investing in security systems. This after a rash of break-ins and night-time burglaries reported in the last 7 days. Police have arrested one 16 year old boy, but are increasingly concerned about the brazen nature of these as the break-ins are happening while people are home.

The effects of Tuesday’s storms are still being felt around suburban Philadelphia as power is still out for thousands of homes that are hoping to get it back by tomorrow. Some parts of Delaware County still don’t have traffic lights as power companies need to wait until trees are removed from power lines before turning the juice back on.
