Boyd Plan Denied; Another Point Breeze Invasion; Girl Gets Probation In Deadly Pocono Accident

The interior of historic Boyd theater on Chestnut Street is exposed while demolition continues. Yesterday the architectural committee of the Historical Commission denied the proposed plan to build a residential tower, retail and restaurant space. One of the concerns is the plan to convert the foyer facing Sansom Street into a loading dock.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a possible attempted home invasion in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia. The incident occurred on the 1800 block of Rosewood Street, the same block where a woman was sexually assaulted by a home invader earlier this week. There is no word on whether or not those two incidents are related. Police say nothing was taken, and nobody was injured.

The 16-year-old girl who crashed her father's SUV in the Poconos last summer while driving without a license, killing three boys from Council Rock High School South, was placed on indefinite probation Tuesday. In lieu of being sent to a juvenile placement facility, Julia Ware, of Pleasantville, N.Y., was ordered to write a 2,000-word essay about the effects of her crime, perform 300 hours of community service, pay $24,000 in restitution, and attend weekly counseling.
