A driver is dead after he crashed his pickup truck into Lower Moreland High School on Saturday afternoon. It happened just before 2 p.m. on the 500 block of Red Lion Road in Lower Moreland. Witnesses saw the truck speeding across the parking lot, without any breaking or slowing down, and plow right through the side of the building. The black truck with Virginia tags ended up in a maintenance supply office on the other side of the wall. The school's janitor had just exited the room moments before the crash. There were also hundreds of others in the school's cafeteria for a pasta fundraiser benefiting the school music program. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Filipe Andre Pinto Silva of Huntingdon Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured. It took hours for crews to remove the truck from the gaping hole in the side of the building. No word yet on whether the school will be open for classes on Monday.

UPDATE: Lower Moreland High School will open on Monday with a normal schedule following Saturday's deadly crash,

A fire broke out this evening on the Ocean City Boardwalk in New Jersey. It started around 8:00 pm at the 7th Street Surf Shop near Gillian’s Pier. Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames. The fire was brought under control within a half an hour. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Philadelphia Police say that a man who had just won $12,000 at SugarHouse Casino was robbed when he returned to his South Philly home. It happened at 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning on South Mildred Street. The victim had just gotten out of the cab he took home when he was approached by a masked gunman. He was told to get on the ground and cover his face with a nearby pot. The man then reached into his pockets, took everything, and fled in a car. The victim immediately called police who were able to track his stolen iPhone. They chased two suspects in a dark blue Nissan back to the casino in Fishtown. One suspect ran back into the building and was caught in the men's room. The victims was able to identify one of the suspect's. Both suspects are in custody and are being being held at South Detectives.
