A Montgomery County drug task force has arrested two people and seized one kilogram of heroin in a drug bust in Norristown this week. Detectives intercepted a conversation between a Philadelphia area man and a Mexican drug trafficker about the purchase of kilogram amounts of heroin. The Mexican man set up a deal between the Philadelphia area man and Gladiz Basurto-Leal of Norristown. Those two then met in King of Prussia and Basurto-Leal bought the kilo. She then brought it back to the home of Erik Lopez in Norristown. Montgomery County detectives searched Lopez's home and found the heroin, $10,000 cash, and a 9mm handgun. Basurto-Leal and Lopez were arrested. Montgomery County district attorney Risa Ferman says the value of the drugs is around $300,000 but more importantly that's 33,000 doses off the street. The two are being held in lieu of $500,000 bail each.

A body was found inside a burning car this afternoon in Southwest Philadelphia. The black 2-door Honda was engulfed in flames along Fort Mifflin Road near Enterprise Avenue by the border of Philadelphia International Airport. Police are treating this as a suspicious death. No identification of the victim could be determined at the time due to extent of the fire and charing of the body. The car is registered to someone is South Philadelphia. Fire Marshals determined that an accelerant was used and a gas can was found in the trunk of the car. The investigation continues.

The Philadelphia Police department along with other emergency workers will be conducting training exercises near 6th and Market at Independence Mall tonight. The exercises and training drills will run from approximately 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Expect to see large numbers of emergency responders in the area and be assured that it is just a drill. You may wish to change your plans or find alternate routes if you are planning on traveling in that area of Old City.

Tonight,
Partly Cloudy, temperatures in the mid to low 60s this evening in Center City
