Philly Woman Tried to Join ISIS; Teacher Sentenced Sex w/ Student; NJ Woman Body Found After 9 Years

A Philadelphia woman has been arrested and charged with planning on joining a terrorist organization overseas. 30-year-old Keonna Thomas, also known as Fatayat al Khalifah and YoungLioness online, is facing charges of knowingly attempting to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization. Thomas, a mother of two from North Philly, had applied for a US Passport and was communicating with an Islamic State fighter oversees about travel plans. The FBI had been monitoring Thomas' online activity since 2013 when she began posting pro-ISIS messages on Twitter. She planned to travel to Syria and join, fight, and die alongside the terrorists as a martyr. Thomas had purchased plane tickets and a visa to Turkey and would have flown out this past Sunday if the FBI hadn't raided her home on North 10th Street last Friday. She made a brief appearance in court to wearing a niqab covering her face and a burqa covering her body with only her eyes showing. She faces 15 years in prison if convicted.

A former AP Calculus teacher at Lower Moreland High School was sentenced today after pleading guilty to having a sex with a 17-year-old student. 35-year-old Erica Ginnetti of Philadelphia was sentenced to 30 days in jail followed by 60 days of house arrest. She'll also have 20 months parole and three years of probation. Finally, she will be required to perform 100 hours of community service and register as a sex offender. Ginnetti first met the teen in May 2013 at the school prom. The two began to exchange photos, video and text messages, many of which were sexually explicit. This eventually led to a sexual encounter in Ginnetti's car at a Lower Moreland parking lot. The investigation began in January 2014 after police were tipped off about the inappropriate relationship.

New Jersey State Police have found the body of a woman that has been missing since 2006. The body of Stacey Grater was discovered on Tuesday by hunters in a wooded area in Pemberton Township. Grater disappeared on February 18th, 2006. She was 36 years old. At the time, her disappearance was considered suspicious. Grater was last seen riding he bike to a convenience store. Now authorities will try to determine how she died. If you have any information, contact the NJ State Police.
