Storm Delivers 3 to 6; Princeton Receives Historic Gift; Christie Courting Support in NH

Snowfall around the Philadelphia area was enough to close schools and make a mess of morning rush hours. This storm moved as predicted dropping 3 to 6 on Philly and up to 9 inches in southern Delaware in New Jersey. Fortunately it’s the lighter, fluffy kind making shoveling easier. The snow is not going to melt this week as temperatures will stay below freezing and another round of snow could happen Saturday.

Princeton University has received its largest gift ever. It is a rare book and manuscript collection that includes the first six printed editions of the Bible, an original printing of the Declaration of Independence and Beethoven’s autographed music sketchbook. The collection valued at nearly $300 million was donated by Philadelphia native and Princeton alum William H. Scheide who passed away at age 100, leaving ownership of the collection to Princeton.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was in New Hampshire practicing his presidential presentation at a Republican dinner in Concord. Christie says his first 100 days in the White House would include changing a “ridiculous” U.S. tax system that has too many people and companies leaving the country. Republicans see this as the most wide-open primary in 45 years.
