Teacher Charged in Sex with Student; NCAA - Penn State Settlement; Phil Africa Dies

The West Whiteland Township Police Department announced on Tuesday that they have charged a 35-year-old former teacher with Corruption of Minors in connection with an alleged relationship with a student. Police say Sarah O'Neill, 35, of Coatesville, Pa., allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a student at the prestigious boarding school Church Farm School where she worked as a teacher. The relationship allegedly began last January when the student was 16 years old and lasted for 10 months. The alleged incidents occurred on four occasions in O'Neill's vehicle and hotels in the area.

A proposed settlement between the NCAA, Penn State, and state officials might restore more than 100 wins to Joe Paterno's record, but won't satisfy the critics who say the league and university must admit mistakes in their handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse case and take steps to prevent future lapses. Critics say the wins are not the issue. For them the issue has always been due process and the truth. They want the consent decree that stripped Paterno of 111 victories and levied a $60 million fine, bowl ban, and loss of scholarships to be voided, not replaced.

Phil Africa, a high-ranking member of the black-liberation group MOVE, died Saturday at the Pennsylvania Correctional Institution at Dallas, according to NBC10. No cause of death was given, and remaining members of the group were quick to say he died under "suspicious circumstances." His age could not be determined. Africa was one of the "MOVE 9," members imprisoned after a shootout at the group's former headquarters in Powelton Village in 1978, in which Police Officer James Ramp was shot to death.
