Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman has decided not to seek a third term. She is going to focus her efforts on making a run for Common Pleas Court judge. Montgomery County First Assistant DA Kevin Steele did announce his intentions to seek the district attorney's seat. He hopes to get the endorsement from the Montgomery County Democratic Committee. Bruce Castor, current commissioner and former district attorney, is rumored to run for the GOP. Ferman, a Republican, has worked in the DA's office for over twenty years and became the county's first female elected District Attorney.

A Berks County, Pennsylvania, father is apologetic now after pulling his daughter's male friend by the hair and chopping off his dreadlocks with a knife. 38-year-old Reginald Hardy has been charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and other offenses. Hardy says that he lost his cool after he walked into his Franklin Manor apartment in West Reading on Friday night and found the 19-year-old 'sneaking' around with his 17-year-old daughter. Police say that Hardy punched the teen in the face before cutting off his hair. Hardy says he was only looking out for his daughter and the man was disrespectful to him and shouldn't have been there. Hardy has cooperated with the investigation and is remorseful. He's free on $50,000 unsecured bail.

Philadelphia rapper Beanie Sigel has been released from a New Jersey hospital after spending a month in recovery from gun shot wounds. 40-year-old Sigel (aka. Dwight Grant) was shot in the abdomen at his brother-in-law's Pleasantville home on December 5th shortly after he returned home from dropping his children off at school. He had been staying at the house as part of his supervised release from prison after serving time for tax evasion. That supervised release was set to end the very next day. Sigel was able to give investigators a statement while he was in AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City but those details have not been released. Three different persons of interest have been identified in the case but no arrests have been made.
