Atlantic City's mayor heads to Trenton in search of help after his city lost jobs and revenues as the casino industry struggles. Mayor Don Guardian is slated to speak to an Assembly committee about the city's future and the gambling industry. Atlantic City has seen 8,000 workers lose their jobs so far this year after four of the city's 12 casinos closed.

A highway worker was struck and killed outside Philadelphia. Police say a construction supervisor died after he was hit by an SUV while setting up cones for a highway lane closure in Pottstown. Lee Boyer was struck just after 11 p.m. Wednesday on westbound Route 422 in North Coventry Township. The 60-year-old Liberty man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several hundred protesters disrupted the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at City Hall last evening. After the scheduled “die-in” protest, demonstrators marched through Center City during rush hour decrying police killings of African Americans. One man was arrested when he hopped over a barricade during the Christmas program and there was a tense confrontation at the base of the tree when it was lit. But there were no other arrests.

Sports
