30-year-old Stabbed to Death; Pregnant Woman Killed, Baby Alive; Ex-Philly Cop calls Out US Policing

A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death Thursday morning in an Overbrook home. The man was stabbed multiple times in his chest and arms on the 5400 block of Arlington Street. He was rushed to the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead about half an hour later. His identity was not released.

A pregnant woman was struck by a car and killed Wednesday in Pittsburgh. 30-year-old Jodie Guthrie was sitting outside a drug store when an elderly driver trying to park jumped the curb and pinned her to the wall. Her child was delivered by doctors, but remains in critical condition.

An ex-Philly police captain has called out US policing, saying it is “an oppressive organization now controlled by the one-percent of America.” Former Captain Ray Lewis traveled to Ferguson, MO this week to protest, in full uniform, against the decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson. When asked why he traveled all the way out there, Lewis responded that he wanted to “try to get a message to mainstream America that the system is corrupt, that police are oppressing not only the black community, but also the whites.”

Sports – Eagles beat the Cowboys on Thanksgiving day, 33 – 10.

Weather – Mostly sunny, at 37 degrees in Center City on Friday.
