Dog Fighting Animals Rescued; Christie Defends Ebola Quarantine; Charles Barkley on Not Black Enough

Philadelphia SPCA officials may be on to a South Philadelphia dog fighting ring. After a tip from a neighbor, they searched a property on the 2200 block of Mifflin Street and found 15 dogs, including eight puppies. Officials also discovered training equipment like specialized treadmills, and syringes that may have been used to inject the dogs with steroids. The dogs will be heading to the PSPCA where they will be checked out, and hopefully rehabilitated and adopted.

Gov. Christie went on NBC's "Today" Show This morning and talked about the Ebola quarantine policy after releasing a nurse who had protested her confinement in a New Jersey hospital. The governor defended the requirement of 21-day quarantines. The nurse, who tested negative for the Ebola virus Saturday, threatened to sue over the confinement. Christie said, “The fact is she presented at the airport as someone who had direct contact with folks who had the Ebola virus,” and “then she became symptomatic.” The nurse will remained quarantined in her home in Maine.

Charles Barkley has spoken out again. Last week on a Philadelphia sports talk radio show, Barkley criticized blacks who say Vikings quarterback Russell Wilson is not black enough because he studies the playbook and doesn’t party. According to Barkley the “not black enough” attitude is a “dirty little secret” that damages chances for success. He says many blacks are brainwashed to think if you’re not a thug or an idiot, and haven’t been in jail, you’re not black enough.
