August 1, 2011 - Philadelphia radio station WHAT-AM 1340 dropped its Standards music format of 4 years and is preparing to go in a different direction.

The Pop Standards music format, previously known as Martini Lounge Radio, featuring artists like Frank Sinatra, Diana Krall, Tony Bennett and Michael Buble can now be heard on internet radio at iRadioPhilly.com. Martini Lounge Radio was originally aired on Philadelphia radio station WHAT-AM 1340 in August, 2007.

Martini Lounge Radio joins a platform of 18 music intensive internet radio stations at www.iRadioPhilly.com designed specifically for listeners in the Philadelphia area. Stations on iRadioPhilly.com feature Philadelphia news, sports, weather and event information. Currently, all 18 music stations are commercial-free. Free mobile Apps for iRadioPhilly are available for iPhone and Android.

Prior to Martini Lounge Radio, WHAT-AM also ran an alternative music format, Skin Radio, that is also carried at iradiophilly.com

Well, hi there, Tom! So glad to find you here, and so sorry about all that happened with the station. I guess it was only a matter of time, huh? I have very fond memories of working for MLR, not the least of which was the great reactions I got from folks when I first mentioned the station's name! We worked with a great bunch, too! I have such respect and compassion for "radio people." Hope the guys all land on their feet! Laura

It was certainly an interesting chapter in the book of life. It was a great group we assembled, from rookies to veterans and legends like Wee Willie Webber, Mike Bowe and Bob Craig. It was a true pleasure while it lasted.
