Pennsylvania's candidates for governor faced off in a debate this morning in Philadelphia. Governor Tom Corbett and Democratic challenger Tom Wolf met at the CBS broadcast center for an hour long debate moderated by Larry Kane. The roundtable discussion format gave the candidates an opportunity to discuss the issues without the usual time limit restraints. Education, pensions, taxes, unemployment and fracking led the topic list.

A fire in Atlantic City that started overnight was brought under control this morning and fortunately no one was injured. The multi-alarm blaze on Atlantic Avenue engulfed several buildings just off the boardwalk and two buildings partially collapsed. The fire started in a consignment shop and spread to several others including upstairs apartments. The Red Cross is assisting 17 people displaced by the fire.

Five schools in the Philadelphia area have been awarded a prestigious National Blue Ribbon announced today by U.S. Department of Education. Hill-Freedman World Academy received the award for the second straight year. Other Philadelphia schools include Franklin Towne Charter High School and Norwood-Fontbonne Academy. Suburban schools getting the award were Merion Elementary in Lower Merion and Mount St. Joseph Academy in Flourtown
