$40k Reward Pregnant Mother and Baby; Auction Approved for Revel; Playboy Says Penn #1 Party School

There is now a $40,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction for those responsible in the shooting death of a pregnant mother and the baby she was carrying in Frankford on Sunday. 25-year-old Megan Doto was hit by a stray bullet in the face while sitting outside on the 1500 block of Adams Avenue before noon on Sunday. A gunman had opened fire on a white, four-door vehicle near Adams and Griscom Avenues a block away. Doto was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital. Her baby was delivered via emergency Caesarian section, but died overnight last night. Police are treating this as a double homocide. She was 8 months pregnant. Doto has two other children ages 6 and 4. Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS (8477), text a tip to PPD TIP (773847) or through PhillyPolice.com.

A bankruptcy court judge has approved an auction for the closed $2.4 billion Revel Casino after a $90 million cash bid was received from a Florida developer last week. The auction will be held on September 24th. That developer, Glenn Straub, could have parts of the building reopened in just a few weeks after a sale goes through. He doesn't not plan to operate a casino immediately but said that one would likely operate at some point. If the sale does not go to Straub in the auction he would get a $3 million break up fee. So far there have not been any other qualified bids.

When you think of the University of Pennsylvania the first things that come to mind are probably the academic reputation of our resident Ivy, the historic institution founded by Ben Franklin, the beautiful urban campus in West Philadelphia, and perhaps it's storied athletic tradition. Well, if you ask Playboy magazine they'll tell you there's a big secret (not anymore) over in University City and those Penn kids really do “work hard, play hard”. In the gentleman's magazine's list of top party schools in the country Penn ranked #1 this year, beating out big state schools like Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Arizona. Playboy credited the underground frat scene, the undergrads proclivity towards casual sex, Philly's bar scene, and Spring Fling which usually attracts big name acts to campus. US News and World report recently ranked Upenn the #8 top school in the country. As they say, “Smarties can party too”.

Playboy's Top 10 Party Schools
1. University of Pennsylvania
2. University of Wisconsin
3. West Virginia University
4. University of Arizona
5. University of Iowa
6. University of California, Santa Cruz
7. University of Miami
8. Colorado State University
9. University of Texas
10. Syracuse University

Tonight,
Partly cloudy, mid 60s this evening in Center City
