Murray Home Burglarized by Nephew; West Goshen Leader Killed by Truck; Upper Merion Man Guilty

Two men were arrested early this morning breaking into the home of murder victim Connie McClain-Murray in Northeast Philadelphia. It happened at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Murray home on the 2800 block of Tolbut Street in the Holme Circle neighborhood. A witness saw the two men trying to pry open a door and called 911. Police arrived in time to catch them before they got into the house or fled the scene. They have been identified by police as 32-year-old Steven Anderson and 27-year-old Brandon Howard. Anderson claimed to and turns out to be Connie's nephew. The suspects have been charged with attempted burglary. No one was injured.

46-year-old McClain-Murray was found strangled to death on August 5th in Pennypack Park. Her husband, 48-year-old Christopher, confessed to killing her and has been charged with murder. The couple has two daughters.

A local leader was killed early this afternoon after a pickup truck crashed into a West Chester, PA supermarket. It happened around 12:30 p.m. at the ShopRite grocery store at 1115 West Chester Pike. 77-year-old Dr. Robert S. White was standing on the sidewalk in front of the building when a silver pickup truck, driven by a young woman in her 20's, first backed into him and then through the stone structure. White was pronounced dead at Chester County Hospital. White has served as West Goshen Township Supervisor since 1992. Before that he was a member of planning committee for 12 years. White was also a navy veteran. He leaves behind a wife and two grown sons.

An Upper Merion man has been found guilty of three counts of first-degree murder, but mentally-ill, after killing his parents and brother three years ago in their Gulph Mills home. The Montgomery County judge's ruling almost guarantees that 27-year-old Joseph McAndrew Jr. will never again be a free man but there will be another hearing to determine where he will serve his time and if he needs psychiatric treatment. On March 5, 2011, McAndrew killed his mother and father with a samurai sword. He killed his brother when he tried to intervene. He has a history of mental illness.

Tonight,
Clear skies, temperatures in the 70's this evening in Center City.
