Phillies Home Opener, Fugitive NJ Sex Offender Captured, Lower Merion Cleanup

This afternoon, the Phillies get their home season started at Citizens Bank Park. Led by healthy veterans Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins, the Fightin' Phils have shown some offensive power during the first week of play. While their record stands at 3 and 3, manager Ryne Sandberg is generally pleased with some positive signs.

UPDATE: Utley will not play today, he was sent home early with the flu.

A fugitive sex offender has been captured according to New Jersey police after 23 years on the loose. On the list of 12 most wanted in the state, James Wade Barclay never showed at his sentencing hearing in 1989 after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 10 year old. Barclay had been using an alias and working as a trucker.

Lower Merion Township says they need more time to clean up all of the fallen trees and branches from this winter. Pickups began at the end of March, but they barely put a dent in it. The township has extended cleanup on streets they have not visited yet through at least mid-April.

Sports
The Phillies home opener is today against the Milwaukee Brewers. Kyle Kendrick will start.

Weather
Mix of sun and clouds for the home opener. 63 in Center City.
