Pope Francis will come to Philadelphia in September of 2015. In preparation for the visit, Archbishop Charles Chaput, Mayor Michael Nutter and Governor Tom Corbett will visit with Pope Francis later this month. The event in Philadelphia is the Vatican's World Meeting of Families. Nutter and Corbett are honorary co-chairs of the event.

The Philadelphia School District is proposing cutting the salaries of principals by 15% and having them begin paying toward their health benefits. According to the plan, Principals would become 10 month workers. The principals may vote to reject the arrangement; however the school district may push the plan through anyway. The plan would save the school district $130 million over 5 years.

The Parkhouse senior care facility in Royersford has been sold by Montgomery County. The nursing home complex was costing taxpayers millions of dollars. The buyer is a private operator, Mid-Atlantic Health Care, a Maryland company. The agreement includes a contingency for some of the county-owned land to be preserved as open space.
