Explosion in Ewing, NJ Kills 1; Ban on Food in PA Funeral Homes; Dove Armpit NJ Billboard Pulled

A massive explosion rocked the South Fork housing community in Ewing Township, NJ this afternoon killing 1 woman and injuring 7 others. It happened shortly before 1pm on Crockett Lane along I-95. PSE&G workers had been called to the area about an hour before the blast to fix a gas line damaged by a contractor. They were working on the line when it exploded. Ten homes were destroyed and up to 55 others received damage. Residents reported their own windows breaking and homes shaking due to the concussion, some even were knocked over. Debris litters the neighborhood with pink insulation high in the trees. The cause of ignition is still under investigation. Residents have been displaced until damaged homes can be inspected.

A federal judge has reinstated a ban on food service inside Pennsylvania funeral homes. The ban on serving food inside of funeral homes had been on the books since 1952. The reasoning being food safety concerns. In 2012, a federal judge deemed that law unconstitutional. That opened up the possibility for funeral directors to work with or even become caterers to family's memorial services. However, the federal appeals court has gone back to the original ruling, and says no more food.

Unilever, parent company of Dove, had a great idea for a billboard campaign for it's line of deodorant. It pictures a smiling lady in a white tank top holding her arm over her head with her underarm exposed. The text reads "Dear New Jersey, When People call you 'The Armpit of America,' take it as a compliment. Sincerely, Dove" Well, the people of New Jersey didn't like the thought of it's not-so-endearing nickname being plastered on billboards all over the state and they let Dove know it. Unilever, based in New Jersey, backed off and won't be placing those ads. Instead they will be donating the space to charity.
