Don Tollefson Charged in Scam, No Verification of Craigslist Murders, Bill Green Takes Over SRC

Former Philadelphia TV sports anchor Don Tollefson turned himself in to Warminster Police yesterday on charges he scammed more than 100 people out of over $100,000 and duped the Special Olympics, the Salvation Army and a memorial foundation for slain Montgomery County police officer Brad Fox. Bucks County D.A. Ryan Hyde says the current charges may be just the beginning and the case is going get more complex.

Investigators have found no verification to the claims of the Pennsylvania woman who said she killed 22 people across the country. Newlywed Miranda Barbour and her husband, charged with murder after using Craigslist to lure their victim, told a news reporter there were 22 others. Northumberland D.A. Tony Rosini says that so far, there has been no verification of those claims.

Bill Green, the new School Reform Commission Chairman took the oath of office yesterday and got right to work. Green’s top priority is teacher contracts. The Philadelphia Federation of teachers has been without a contract since August and negotiations are dragging. Green recognizes Superintendent William R. Hite is growing impatient and says he’ll be guided by Hite’s timetable.

Tonight Drexel is at James Madison. St. Joe’s visits Rhode Island. LaSalle is at Dayton.
