Cruise Ship Returns With 700 Sickened, Bank Robbery Arrests, Super Bowl Pool Legality

A cruise ship returned to New Jersey after a shortened trip to the Caribbean thanks to a sickness that struck 700 passengers and crew. The Explorer of the Seas had over 3,000 on board when passengers started getting sick. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suspect norovirus, but results of tests are not expected until next week.

The robbery of a bank in Bala Cynwyd may have been an inside job. That’s the word from Lower Merion police who have arrested three people charged with the bank job at the Wells Fargo on Levering Mill Road in November. The apprehended thieves were seen on video grabbing cash and cell phones. The investigation is continuing.

There is disagreement over the legality of Super Bowl pools like the ones at the local fire halls or VFW posts. The Pennsylvania State Police say they are illegal. But Democratic Senator Lisa Boscola says the agency is not recognizing a new law that allows charitable and volunteer clubs to offer small betting pools on such events.
