Pete Seeger has died. The 94 year old singer, songwriter, and community activist passed peacefully in his sleep after a six day stay in the hospital. The banjo playing folk legend played with Woody Guthrie in the early days of his long career writing hit songs like "If I Had a Hammer," "Turn, Turn, Turn," and "Where Have All the Flowers Gone."

Today's cold weather comes with pleas to conserve energy, closings and warnings to be careful in the frigid temperatures. With temperatures in the single digits and teens, SEPTA is keeping extra personnel on duty and will restrict speeds for trains and trolleys with overhead power lines.

Police are investigating a deadly hit and run where they believe two cars may have struck the victim, 51 year old Christine Witte outside her mother’s home in Northampton Township this morning. Police have impounded a mini-van and are examining broken car parts from the scene to help identify the other vehicle.

Sports
The Detroit Red Wings are in town to play the Flyers tonight.

Weather
Cloudy. 19 in Center City.
