J.C Penney is closing 33 stores nationwide, two in the Philadelphia suburbs. Penney's is struggling to get to profitability and it will cut 2,000 jobs including employees of stores in Exton and Burlington. The retailer operates 1,100 stores and is doing more to recover from a turnaround plan that so far, has had disastrous results.

Charlie Manuel is returning to the Phillies. Reuben Amaro signed the former manager to be his Senior advisor – Amaro’s most notable off-season signing to date. Charlie will also have his eyes on Phillies prospects and the scouting department. Charlie Manuel had hoped to get another Manager job but is happy to join Dallas Green, the other World Series manager as a Phillies advisor.

A fire in an apartment complex in Darby today has displaced 13 families. More than 100 firefighters were called to the scene on the 800 block of Main Street in Darby to bring the blaze under control.
