Prison for Man Growing 1300 Pot Plants, Freezing Rain Damage, Christie Rebuilding His Reputation

A Kensington man was sent to prison after 1300 potted marijuana plants (pictured) were found in his home. Forty one year old Vinh Quang Nguyen pleaded guilty to possession with intent to sell. His grow house on the 2300 block of Frankford Avenue was intended to provide income for his girlfriend and her two children, 4 and 6 years old. Instead, it got him 3 to 7 years in prison.

Freezing rain made traveling treacherous this morning. The thin layer of ice on roads in some towns around Philadelphia and South Jersey had cars moving sideways, even at low speeds. Walking on ice covered sidewalks was not easy either. Numerous auto accidents around the hills of Manayunk were reported and injuries from falls landed people in emergency rooms.

Chris Christie is trying to put the pieces back together after a traffic scandal forced him to fire a top aide and his chief political adviser yesterday. Christie’s critics are probing to find out what the governor knew about the orders to jam traffic. In the meantime, several individuals have filed lawsuits against Christie over traffic jams. They hope to form a class action.
