A Montgomery County woman who called herself 'Jihad Jane' was sentenced today for plotting to kill a Swedish political cartoonist for publishing a cartoon perceived as offensive to Muslims. Colleen LaRose, 50, of Pennsburg, PA, had travelled to Ireland after being recruited on jihadist websites and helped other suspected terrorists in planning the attack, which was never actually carried out. LaRose returned to Philadelphia in 2009 and surrendered. She was sentenced today to 10 years in prison. Judge Petrese Tucker could have given her a life term for the terroristic charges but responded to a government request to take into account LaRose's cooperation with investigators. Two of LaRose's co-defendant's will be sentenced this week.

A worker at a Delaware County grocery store is recovering after being stung by a scorpion while unpacking bunches of bananas. The incident happened on Saturday at the Giant store in Haverford Township. The man was stung while unpacking a box of Chiquita brand bananas. He was taken to the hospital and is now just nursing a sore hand. Chiquita said that they'll no longer us that farm, which is in Honduras. The species of scorpion was not identified.

Police in Camden County say that a six-year-old boy was struck and killed this morning by a school bus. It happened at 8:30 this morning on Aqua Lane in Atco, NJ. Investigators say the bus had stopped to pick up children. The child, who lives across the street, began to walk/run in front of the bus. The bus then began to move again and fatally struck the first grader. The driver, a 25 year veteran, continued to drive off not realizing what happened before witnesses flagged him down. Camden County Prosecutor's Office is beginning an investigation to determine how this could have happened and whether anything criminal occurred. Parents all received a letter home today and counselors will be available at Atco Elementary School school tomorrow.

The boy has been identified at 6-year-old Edmond Boch IV of Aqua Lane, Waterford Township, NJ.

Tonight,
Partly Cloudy and Clearing, Temperatures dropping through the 20's this evening, heading down to 7 overnight in Center City
