Funeral arrangements have been announced for former South African President, Nelson Mandela. Mandela spent 27 years in prison, convicted of treason by the white minority government. He was released in 1990 and led his country out of Apartheid negotiating a peaceful end to segregation while urging forgiveness for the white government that had kept him in prison. The memorial service for Nelson Mandela will take place December 10th in Johannesburg stadium. His remains will lie in state December 11th to 14th. Nelson Mandela will be buried in his home town of Qunu December 15th.

Pennsylvania Governor Corbett has announced he will submit a waiver to the federal government with a plan to use billions of dollars in Medicaid funds to provide health insurance for hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians without insurance. Corbett’s administration calls it the next step to provide increased access to health care for the uninsured.
