Phillies Sign RH OF Marlon Byrd to $16M/2yr deal; Two Upper Darby Police Officers Reinstated

The Philadelphia Phillies have made their first major offseason move agreeing to a two-year, $16 million contract with free-agent outfielder Marlon Byrd. The 36-year-old Byrd had a career season last year hitting .291 with 24 home runs, 88 RBIs in 147 games last season with the Mets and Pirates. Phillies' GM Ruben Amaro is hoping the right-hander hits like that again in 2014. Byrd was coming off his worst season hitting .210 with one home run, nine RBIs with the Cubs and Red Sox before serving a 50-game suspension for PED's in 2012.

Two Upper Darby police officers accused of assaulting a juvenile while in custody have been reinstated to the force. Officers Michael Givens, 39, and Ryan Wisely, 32, were terminated back in July for 'violating township procedures' following the alleged assault. The incident happened June 15th between the two officers and one of three juveniles arrested for shoplifting. It happened inside the police station and was caught on video but that has not been released. An arbitration panel ruled that the officers can return to work tomorrow, Wednesday. Both are being reinstated without back pay.

Tonight, Mostly Cloudy and windy, temperatures in the mid 30's
