The Italian Market will start to fill up with more vendor spaces occupied thanks to a new City Council measure. About half of the stands along South 9th Street are vacant. A new measure will lift the two space maximum ownership allowing the current vendors to fill up the existing space. There are 162 vendor stands on Ninth from Federal to Christian Streets.

Police are seeking a man captured on video yesterday in connection with the attack and robbery of an 81 year old Temple professor in his office on campus. The incident happened about 11:20 am Tuesday. The intruder punched the professor in the face as he sat as his desk. The man held a knife to his throat and demanded the teacher’s wallet. Before leaving, the robber punched the professor again in the head. The professor is at Temple Hospital.

A new riverfront trail opened on Tuesday with a 1.6 mile long asphalt path along the Delaware River that will provide a link to the planned 750 mile network of bicycle and walking trails around Philadelphia. The Port Richmond Trail runs along North Delaware Avenue from Allegheny Avenue through the Tioga Marine Terminal. The project cost $2.5 million.
