Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams announced that the victim in the rape and assault case of Rev. Robert Brennan died unexpectedly over the weekend. The victim, a former alter boy, accused Brennan of molesting him over a period of 3 years starting in 1998. He was 11 years old at the time. Brennan was arrested at his home in Maryland late last month and brought to Philadelphia. He is currently out on bail. Today was supposed to be a preliminary hearing but that was postponed. An attorney for the victim's family said that he died Sunday after a drug relapse. The DA's office will review the case and come to a decision on the status of the prosecution next week.

Police have arrested 6 students involved in a brawl that was caught on tape at Upper Darby High School. During that fight a teacher was brutally assaulted when trying to intervene. Last Tuesday, October 8th at 11:00am two groups of students began fighting in the hallway. As many as 60-70 were involved. A 30-year-old teacher tried to step in but was punched, kicked and stomped on. He suffered a concussion and torn ligaments to his left leg. Six students were arrested including one 14-year-old, two 16-year-olds, two 17-year-olds, and an 18-year-old. All six were charged with Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Harassment, and Conspiracy. In addition, all have been suspended from school. Jermaine Robinson, 18, was also charged with aggravated assault. He is being held on $30,000 bail.

US Marshals shot a man this afternoon outside a popular riverside restaurant at Penn's Landing. It happened around 5pm in the parking lot of The Chart House on Columbus Boulevard along the Delaware River. The man shot was not killed and was rushed to Thomas Jefferson Hospital in critical condition. Witnesses say that a pursuit ended in the parking lot. Marshals fired on the driver of a white car and removed a woman from the car. No authorities were injured. The man was being pursued for aggravated assault charges and a parole violation. Details are still emerging.
