Philly Republican Mayor Race leaning towards a Karen Brown win

It's been a week since the primary elections ended, and it seems that former school teacher Karen Brown will end up with the GOP nomination for mayor to run against incumbent Democrat Michael Nutter.

She holds a very tight 58 vote lead over John Featherman after city officials completed the latest tally of votes that included absentee ballots. Around 16,500 votes were cast in the GOP primary.

Featherman is not giving up hope. There are still provisional ballots out there, cast by those who came out to vote but did not appear on official voter lists. Officials doubt there are enough of those ballots out there to make a difference but no one knows exactly how many there are.

Regardless of who receives the Republican nomination, they have quite a mountain to climb in front of them going into November.
