Fireman Murder Suicide, Nutter Approval Rating Down, Chaput On Pope Francis Interview

A retired Philadelphia firefighter shot and killed his wife then turned the gun on himself. Sixty six year old Henry Yip called 911 and told the operator he had just killed his wife, 54 year old Vicki Yip and was planning to take his own life. Police tried unsuccessfully to coax Yip out of the house.

Mayor Nutter's approval rating is falling. According to a new study from the Pew Charitable Trusts, the percentage of Philadelphians who approved of Nutter's job performance dropped from 60 percent in January 2012 to 39 percent. The percent disapproving rose from 30 percent to 52 percent.

Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput has been inundated with e-mails from priests and Catholics around the Archdiocese. Many are confused by headlines since Pope Francis was interviewed in a Jesuit journal. The Pope’s comments regarding abortion, birth control and gay marriage have been interpreted as progressive. Chaput suggests reading the entire interview, not just the media interpretation.
