Andy Reid Returns to Philadelphia, Wiring Cause of Boardwalk Fire, Cop Ed Davies Released

Andy Reid is back in Philadelphia. Tonight the former Eagles head coach brings his Kansas City Chiefs to town for a prime time matchup with the Eagles. Under Reid, the Chiefs are 2-0. The Eagles are 1-1. During a halftime ceremony tonight, former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb will have his #5 jersey retired and he will be inducted into the team’s hall of fame.

The fire that destroyed part of the boardwalk in Seaside Heights has been linked to electrical wiring that got soaked during Hurricane Sandy and was not replaced. Last November, the New Jersey Consumer Affairs Department advised that wiring submerged in salt water did not need to be replaced. Many electrical contractors disagree, citing risk of corrosion and fire. Wildwood is now planning electrical inspections on their boardwalk.

Philadelphia police officer Edward Davies was released from the hospital yesterday, more than a month after being shot in a North Philly mini-market by Eric Torres. Davies was shot in the abdomen, under his bullet proof vest on August 13th. Davies underwent several surgeries and had his kidney removed. Torres, a felon with 12 prior arrests, is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for a formal arraignment.
