A Cape May County fisherman is hoping someone honest will return several thousand dollars in cash he lost on the Garden State Parkway. Matthew Camp cashed a check for $12,000, put it in his backpack and hopped on his motorcycle. He was planning to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend. While on the Parkway, the zipper opened and lost the loot on the highway. About $4,000 has been found and returned by highway workers. Tipsters can call 609-296-0503.

A new rule banning backpacks in the hallways has students and parents upset. Oxford Area High School instituted the ban in an attempt to keep alcohol, drugs and weapons out. However many students are struggling with carrying a 10 to 15 pound load of books in their arms from class to class. The school district has said it plans to provide iPads to help lighten the book load.

There is a new push to raise the minimum wage in Pennsylvania from $7.25 to $9 per hour by 2015. The proposal from Philadelphia Democrats Tina Tartaglione and Vincent Hughes hope a Republican controlled Assembly can embrace the plan. Governor Corbett’s office has promised to review the proposal, but has significant concerns about its impact on job creation.
