Police Looking for 3rd in WV Fatal Beating; PA Judge Weighs Same Sex Licenses

Police in Wheeling, WV are looking for a third person who may have been involved in the fatal beating of a Wheeling Jesuit University student over the weekend. Two men have already been been charged with the murder of 21-year-old Kevin Figaniak of Perkasie, Bucks County, PA. 22-year-old Craig Peacock of Clewiston, Fla., and 24-year-old Jarrett Chandler of Winnfield, La. are being held on $1 million bond. Figaniak was a senior business major who played varsity lacrosse.

Commonwealth Court Judge Dan Pellegrini promised to rule as soon as he can after hearing arguments from both sides regarding whether a Montgomery County clerk should be stopped from issuing same-sex marriage licenses. D. Bruce Hanes, the elected register of wills in Montgomery County, started issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in late July after he determined that the Pennsylvania ban was unconstitutional. Judge Pellegrini has to decide if this case, brought by the PA Department of Health, belongs in the PA Supreme Court instead. More importantly he is being asked to rule on whether a county register of wills has the power to go against state law because he believes it is unconstitutional.

Clear skies, temps in mid 70s this evening in Center City
