Lung Transplant Patient Release, Teachers Union Attacks Nutter, 95 S Ramp in Delaware

Sarah Murnaghan, the 11 year old girl who underwent two double lung transplants, is expected to go home from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia this week, possibly tomorrow. Sarah is being treated for Cystic Fibrosis and no longer needs oxygen through a ventilator and can walk short distances with a walker.

The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers is attacking Mayor Michael Nutter with a media campaign and he is calling it all a lie. The TV and radio commercials accuse Nutter of cozying up with Governor Corbett while making budget cuts affecting education. Nutter stands by his record of defending public education for Philadelphia students.

Traffic snarls will ease up for weekend travelers to the Delaware beaches and daily commuters as the new ramp on 95 South near the Christiana Mall is set to open on Tuesday. The cattle chute leading to Route 1 should be gone on Tuesday with the completion of work and traffic is expected to flow much quicker, just in time for Labor Day weekend.

Sports
The Phillies open a road series with the Mets in New York tonight.

Weather
Mix of clouds and sun today. Isolated showers possible. 86 in Center City.
