New charges have been filed in an unrelated case against the Lancaster man involved in the fatal crash on Roosevelt Blvd that killed a woman and her three sons. These new charges stem from an incident a week before the deadly drag racing crash. A woman called police in Manheim Township, Lancaster County and reported on a man waving a badge and driving recklessly. She gave them a license plate that traces to 23-year-old Khusen Akhmedov. He told police that he is a certified emergency medical technician but there is no record of that. Akhmedov was charged with impersonating a public servant and reckless driving.

On March 22, 2010 19-year-old DeAndre Barnes had been celebrating his birthday. He had also been drinking and driving his Audi with a .156 blood alcohol level. That same night 22-year-old ballerina Polina Kadiyska was walking across Broad Street at Elsworth. The Bulgarian-born Rock School student had the right of way when Barnes ran a red light and hit Kadiyska. She died the next day. Barnes was arrested and plead guilty to homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence. He's serving five to 10 years in state prison. Now the estate for Polina Kadiyska has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit seeking to hold Barnes and two South Philadelphia bars civilly responsible for her death. The two bars include T-Barr's Bar and Frantic Nightclub. They both deny that Barnes was ever in their establishments or served underage. The suit seeks $50,000.

Four rowhomes were heavily damaged, three families displaced, and a firefighter injured this afternoon in Norristown. The fire broke out at around 3pm where a work crew was repairing a roof. The roofs of the 4 building collapsed during the blaze. With the help of eight fire crews on hand it was quickly under control after a half and hour. The injured firefighter was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital. The Red Cross is helping the three displaced families.
