Bon Jovi Donates $1 Million for NJ; Doylestown Man Charged w/ Murder; NJSC Nixes LBI Dune Settlement

Jon Bon Jovi joined New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and his wife Mary Pat in Sayerville, NJ this afternoon. The rocker and actor was in town to announce that he was donating $1 million to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, which is chaired by First Lady Mary Pat Christie. Bon Jovi is a native of Sayerville and also performed during the 12/12/12 Sandy Relief Concert. That money will help residents as they continue to rebuild following last fall's devastating hurricane.

A 21-year-old Doylestown man will now face murder charges after a man he stabbed last week died this weekend. 71-year-old George Mohr died on Saturday night after being stabbed over 70 times early Wednesday near the train station. Dale Wakefield of South Clinton Street in Doylestown, initially charged with attempted murder, will face homicide charges. Wakefield fled to Maryland after the incident and is being held by Baltimore police. Investigators are still working on a motive in the case.

The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that it was unjustified to award a Long Beach Island couple $375,000 for ocean views that were lost when a protective sand dune was built. It was sent back for retrial. This time any protective benefits of the dune can be weighed against the value of any lost ocean views to determine the market value. In the previous trial only the lost value of ocean views were considered but not any added value of protection. New Jersey wishes to add dunes up and down it's entire coast.
