$1.5M Bail For Crane Operator; 25 Cops arrest couple having sex; Gosnell rejects drug plea deal

Bail has been set at $1.5 million for crane operator Sean Benschop. He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter of 6 people and and 13 counts of reckless endangerment after the building collapse June 5th at the Salvation Army in Center City. Prosecutors wanted him remanded, noting he is a possible flight risk being a non-citizen. The defense said that Benschop turned himself in when issued a warrant. He'll have to post 10 percent of $150,000. A grand jury will investigate if others should be prosecuted as well.

A North Philadelphia man and a Clifton Heights woman were interrupted having sex on a park bench today in Upper Darby. Around 25 police officers on motorcycles were participating in a weeklong training session and making their way through Naylor's Run Park at around 4pm when they stumbled upon the woman bent over the bench and the man with his pants around his ankles next to a ball field. No one else was around until the cavalcade of cops arrived on the scene to arrest 41-year-old Jennifer Harvey and 37-year-old Richard McBride for open lewdness and disorderly conduct. It only took 25 policemen to thwart this hot and racy outdoor romantic encounter.

Kermit Gosnell, who was convicted of murdering 3 babies after they were born, rejected a plea deal in his federal drug case. Gosnell is already going to spend the rest of his life in jail, the deal would have added 20 years. Federal prosecutors say that Gosnell ran a “pill mill” out of his West Philadelphia clinic. He would charge $20 to write scripts for narcotics such as oxycodone, xanax, and cough medicine with codeine, often without seeing the patient. It wasn't until a February 10, 2010 raid on the clinic by DEA and FBI that authorities were turned on to the extent of his abortion practices, leading DA Seth Williams to call it a “house of horrors.”
