There will be increased security at this weekend's Broad Street Run which stretches 10 miles from North Philly to the Navy Yard. Mayor Michael Nutter has promised that racers and spectators can expect a visible security presence. Racers picking up their race packets and bags will notice they are receiving clear bags instead of cloth to put their race day gear inside. Other bags, backpacks, or coolers won't be allowed in the Navy Yard on race day. The city will also be using a new mobile surveillance platform called SENTRY along the race course in strategic areas. If you'd like to receive texts in case of emergency go to readynotifypa.org. Many racers are wearing red socks in support of the Boston Marathon racers and victims.

A $15,000 reward is now being offered for information in finding the person(s) who made threats and set fire to Penn Wood High School, Green Avenue Campus in Lansdowne, Delaware County. It was previously a $2000 reward. On Thursday April 18th someone set fire to the Green Ave campus of Penn Wood High which forced the upperclassmen to move and split sessions at the Cypress Street branch in Yeadon with the underclassmen. This past Friday, the William Penn School District also received a bomb threat at the school forcing an evacuation and search of the school. Officials are frustrated with the setbacks and extremely concerned with the safety of their school and community. The reward is for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible. Anyone with information can submit a tip anonymously by calling the Crime Commission Tipline at 215-546-TIPS.
