Rutgers Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Jim Martelli has resigned amid the scandal surrounding former head coach Mike Rice and a video tape of his treatment of players during practice. Rice was fired on Wednesday after video of him kicking and shoving players, throwing basketballs at them, and hurling slurs at them became public shown on ESPN. The Star-Ledger reported that the full video also shows Martelli shoving players during practice. “I am sickened that as an assistant coach I contributed in any way to an unacceptable culture. Wednesday I resigned from Rutgers and I hope that coaches on all levels will learn something important from these events," Martelli said. "For my actions, I am deeply sorry and I apologize to the players from the bottom of my heart.” Martelli, who also coached with Rice at Robert Morris, is the son of St. Joseph's coach Phil Martelli. He was hired by Rutgers in May 2010.

Philadelphia Police have arrested a woman who posed as a nurse at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and allegedly molested a 7-year-old boy as well as performing various physical exams on others. Ashley Delvalle, 24, of Feltonville, was at the hospital Tuesday with her own child. Delvalle walked in the rooms of several patients and informed the parents that she was a nurse and would be performing physical examinations. She touched one child inappropriately. When hospital security was notified they called police. Delvalle does not hold a license in Pennsylvania as either a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse. She is being charged with Simple Assault, Indecent Assault and other related charges with $50,000 bail.

On Saturday afternoon, a couple out for a walk found a black Labrador mix tied to a rock along the Neshaminy Creek in Bristol Township, Bucks County. Wyatt and Diana Erb were walking along Inner Road when they first saw the dog lying peacefully near the creek, but on the way back the dog hadn't moved despite the water rising. Once they got close and jumped down the bank they noticed someone had deliberately tied the lease around a big rock and the dog would drown once the tide came in. Now called 'Brooke' by the Bucks County SPCA staff she is being taken care of for serious neglect. Brooke has long term ear and eye infections, a grapefruit size tumor on her hind foot and she is seriously underweight but is starting to do well. PETA is offering up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bucks County SPCA Humane Officers at 215-794-7425.
