Wild Ride for Macungie Couple, Temple Dorm Fire Arson, Royersford Jogger Identified

Police are trying to figure out what triggered the theft of two police cars and a high speed chase that left an officer hospitalized. Blake Bills and Shayna Sykes (pictured) of Macungie stole a Camden Police car from an officer at a traffic stop. They ran him over, crossed the bridge into Philly where they were stopped. Then Sykes stole a Philly cop car, crashing it into several vehicles before getting caught.

Investigators say that the latest fire in a Temple University dorm under construction was set intentionally. According to Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the fire was set on the 14th floor of Morgan Hall Tuesday morning in a trash can. Morgan Hall is the same building where several arson fires were set last month.

The female jogger killed in Royersford has been identified as Merinda Pietrafitta Thompson. The 40 year old runner was struck and killed by a swerving car Monday while running on the shoulder of North Lewis Road. Thompson was the mother two young children. The 18 year old male driver of the car is being investigated.
