The 92nd Anniversary Miss Philadelphia Pageant was held at the Prince Music Theater in Center City on Saturday night. 19-year-old Francesca Ruscio, a Temple University student, was crowned the 2013 winner going against 16 other young women in talent, swim suit, evening gown and interview competitions. In addition to the title and the crown she also wins a $10,000 scholarship. The platform that she'll use her position to promote is also one close to her heart, “I want to raise awareness of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I want to be their voice and I can be there for them. It’s a very serious condition and I have it as well.” 16-year-old Abby Rodgers of St. Basil Academy won the Miss Philadelphia Outstanding Teen competition.

A 94-year-old woman was attacked, tied up, and robbed inside her Mayfair home this morning according to Police. It happened at around 10:30 Sunday morning on the 2800 block of Unruh Avenue in the Northeast. A man threatened the elderly woman with a syringe, forcing his way inside her home. Once inside the woman was assaulted, pushed, slapped and punched in the eye, and tied up with duct tape. During the struggle the woman's medical alert bracelet was activated dialing 911 and her niece. The suspect made off with an unknown amount of jewelry. He is described as being in his 40's or 50's with brown hair, wearing a brown jacket with fur around the hood. The woman was taken to the hospital for observation, no word on her condition.

UPDATE: The woman opened the door thinking the man was her grandson. The man left the house to a waiting car with another male at the wheel. Neighbors got a good look at both of them. When detectives arrived at the grandson's house on the 3200 block of Tyson Avenue, both men pointed the finger at the other. The woman's purse and jewelry were found in the trash at his home. The two suspects aged 31 and 27 are in custody and being charged with aggravated assault, robbery and burglary. The woman is in stable condition and treated for abrasions, bruises and swelling. Police believe the grandson was in the car waiting while his friend attacked and robbed his grandmother.

A wild police chase Friday night that crossed state lines ended with the arrest of a man and woman wanted for burglaries and left an officer injured and three damaged state patrol cars. Starting around 11:30pm Friday, Detectives were doing surveillance in the Kimberton development in Newark, DE looking for Andrew Long, 26, of Middletown and Ashley Jones, 26, of Wilmington. Both were wanted for committing three burglaries in Townsend and Middletown in January and February. The two suspects were spotted getting into a Honda Civic on Greenbridge Drive. Police tried to box them in when Long, the driver, backed into a cruiser and drove off out of the development while State Troopers pursued. The chase crossed into Pennsylvania where PA Troopers joined the pursuit. Eventually the suspects turned back into Delaware driving south on Lancaster Pike. The chase ended when they crashed into another marked State Trooper vehicle that was not involved in the chase but happened to be driving along Lancaster Pike. The two were captured and arrested at that point without incident. The officer in that last vehicle injured his leg and was treated at Christiana Hospital. Long was charged with burglary, disregarding a police officer’s signal, reckless endangerment and other related offenses. Jones was charged with burglary, falsifying records, criminal mischief and other related offenses. Both failed to post bail and were committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute and Baylor Women’s Correctional Institute respectively.
