The salary of a chef at a Camden Charter School has gotten attention because it is 25% higher than last year. Executive Chef Michele Pastorello of the LEAP Academy Charter is budgeted to earn $95,000 this year, $24,000 more than last year. Philly.com is reporting Pastorello is the live-in boyfriend of a school board member. The pay, well above market rate for a school chef, is being investigated.

Will you go down the shore this summer? According to a new poll, more than 75 percent of regular visitors to the Jersey shore plan to hit the Jersey beaches despite the impact of Superstorm Sandy. The Rutgers-Eagleton poll found most people plan to stay as long, or longer than last year. About 20% said Sandy’s effects has them thinking about a shorter stay.

A school bus crashed in Mercer County New Jersey this afternoon injuring several students. At least 5 of the 15 students on the bus from St. Gregory the Great Academy were injured when the bus went off the road into a ditch and rolled to its side. The injuries are described as non-life threatening. The cause is being investigated.
