Nor'easter Dumping Snow, Jersey Shore Evacuations, PA's "Florida Gun Loophole" Closes
  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA

The Nor'easter set up off the east coast started dumping snow on New England before lunchtime today. In Philadelphia, snow is expected to ramp up tonight and drop 2 to 3 inches in the city and South. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect in the northern suburbs where over 6 inches is expected. Snow will be heavy at times overnight and should end before noon Saturday.

Some Jersey shore communities slammed by Superstorm Sandy are issuing voluntary evacuation orders as a precaution for the Nor’easter clobbering New England. Toms River and Brick Townships are also taking extra precautions with water-rescue trucks, ambulances, sandbags and firefighters ready to dispatch. According to the National Weather Service, moderate to major beach erosion is likely.

Pennsylvania’s new Attorney General, Kathleen Kane has closed the “Florida Loophole” for legal gun permits here. Until now, PA residents were able to get a license to carry a concealed weapon from the State of Florida by applying through the mail without proof of residency. And the Florida permits were recognized as legal here. Kane signed a reciprocal agreement with Florida giving 4,000 PA residents with Florida permits 4 months to get one from the Commonwealth.

Rain changing to snow overnight. 2 to 3 inches from the city South and 6 or more to the North. 29 in Center City.
