Ligambi Not Guilty, Philadelphia Woman in $200M Scam, Christie Loses Patience with Flood Program

According to a jury of his peers, reputed mob boss Joseph Ligambi was found not guilty on five charges and undecided on four counts including racketeering conspiracy. Three of six other defendants were convicted including Joseph "Mousie" Massimino, Damion "Dame" Canalichio and Gary Battaglini. Joseph "Scoops" Licata was acquitted on his only charge of racketeering.

It is being called one of the largest credit card fraud schemes in history, and a Philadelphia woman is at the center of it. Federal authorities arrested thirty one year old Verina Adams and 12 others today and charged with stealing over $200 million in an international scam that involved creating false identities, false credit reports and taking millions of dollars in loans to those false identities that was never repaid.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie blasted the National Flood Insurance program today, calling it a “disgrace.” Christie says the number of unresolved claims related to Superstorm Sandy is 70 percent 3 months after the disaster. The Governor blames excessive paperwork, inadequate staff and other administrative drags on the process of helping thousands of victims in New Jersey hurt by Sandy.
