Tacony Palmyra Bridge Fire, Snowfall Around Philadelphia, Main Line Jeweler Kidnapped and Robbed

A fire shut down the Tacony Palmyra Bridge this afternoon. Burlington County authorities report a wooden pier caught fire at the base of the bridge and all traffic was immediately stopped. The fire was brought under control but the bridge remained closed creating huge traffic tie-ups as motorists were redirected to the Betsy Ross Bridge as the alternate.

The snow system that swept through the area today left anywhere from a dusting to over 6 inches in some parts of New Jersey and Delaware. There were only flurries in Center City, but in Cape May County over 6 inches of snow fell. Atlantic City got over 2 inches and Dover Delaware measured 5.9 inches. A system in the midwest could bring an inch of snow to the entire area Saturday night into Sunday morning.

A Main Line Jeweler was kidnapped and his wife held hostage while bandits forced him at gunpoint to take him to his store where he was robbed. Last night in Berwyn four intruders broke into the home of the owners of Shuler’s Jewelers. After binding them with duct tape, they ransacked the home and two men took the husband to rob the store. After the burglary, both were released unharmed.

Weather
Clear skies tonight. 19 in Center City.
