Jerry Sandusky Appeal, New Jersey Casino Revenues Decline, Woman With Gun Denied at School

Jerry Sandusky was back in court today appealing his child molestation conviction. His attorneys asked for a new trial because they were not given enough time to prepare a proper defense. They also argued hearsay evidence was improperly admitted and that Judge John Cleland should have instructed jurors on the length of time witnesses took to come forward. Cleland did not how long he would take to rule on the appeal.

Casino revenues in Atlantic City are still declining. Since Pennsylvania opened casinos, the last 6 years have been down in AC. According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, revenues dropped 8 percent to $3.05 billion in 2012. The good news is that in December, the month after Hurricane Sandy forced a shutdown at the shore, casinos bounced back quickly from the November falloff.

A woman was taken into custody today at South Philadelphia High School when she attempted to enter the school with a loaded handgun. The woman was there to register for adult classes and the x-ray machine revealed the loaded gun in her diaper bag. No shots were fired and she was taken into custody without further incident.
