Andy Reid to Kansas City, Camden Police Layoff, Wildwood Beach Tag Vote

Kansas City, here he comes. Andy Reid appears to be finishing up the final paperwork to be the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs fired their Coach Monday and later their General Manager clearing the way for Andy to name his own GM. Look for Reid to bring some of his favorite assistant coaches from the Eagles too, like Juan Castillo and Doug Pederson. The Kansas City Chiefs lost more games than the Eagles this year, finishing with a 2-14 record.

Camden has approved the layoff of its entire police force. 270 Camden City cops will be dismissed and a new county run force will be hired in its place. The layoffs will happen April 30th and current officers may be re-hired to the new county force which will have 400 officers. Police unions are fighting the move, saying the transition to a larger police squad is union-busting.

The City of Wildwood will ask voters if they favor imposing beach badge fees to help offset the $1 million per year the city pays to maintain its beaches. One of the last free beaches on the Jersey shore, residents have voted twice before to keep the beaches free. The special election will be held in March and Mayor Ernie Troiano says the taxpayer can no longer “shoulder the burden” of beach maintenance.
