Obama Wants Action on Gun Violence, Phila’s Ramsey to Join Panel, Eight Charged in Child Porn Ring

Today President Obama called for "concrete proposals" on curbing gun violence. The President wants to propose something to Congress no later than January. Obama was mostly silent on the issue of gun control for 4 years and during his reelection campaign. Now that the election is over and in the wake of the massacre of 20 children in Connecticut last week, Obama has taken a tough new tone in the face of the powerful gun-rights lobby.

Charles Ramsey, Philadelphia’s Police Commissioner was invited to join President Barrack Obama’s advisory panel aimed at reducing gun violence. In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, the President wants to move swiftly to change policy and prevent mass shootings. Vice President Joe Biden will lead the effort and plans to meet with Commissioner Ramsey this week.

Eight men in Berks County have been arrested on child pornography charges. After a county-wide investigation, the men were charged with possession and distribution of child pornography using the internet. The victims are children between the ages of 1 and 5 years old. Investigators say they collected thousands of images from computers seized.

Weather
Mostly clear. 31 in Center City.
